Cooking Indian food is easy when you know how. Read on to find out about my classes and how I can teach you to cook beautiful Indian food in your own home.
Explore the joys of Indian cooking for yourself with PomPom Cookery Classes.
We’re so used to eating Indian food in restaurants, that the idea of cooking it for ourselves at home often seems like an unreachable thing to do. The truth is, far from being a cuisine that is prepared hidden away in professional kitchens, real traditional Indian food is the ultimate home cooking experience. Once you understand the basics, and are willing to put a little bit of love into it, cooking beautiful, fresh authentic Indian food is really not that hard.
My cookery classes are designed to be informative and hands-on, but most importantly, fun and easygoing. You’ll experience every stage of cooking a dish from toasting, grinding and layering spices, learning the Ayurvedic health benefits of the ingredients, all the way to garnishing your finished creations.
No two classes are the same as your class will be designed with your aims and desires in mind. At the end of your class you’ll enjoy the fruits of your labour with a delicious meal, made by you, that you can either take home to enjoy or devour fresh out the pan at the chef’s table.
Whether you’re a beginner cook or seasoned pro, there’s something for everyone with my tailor-made classes.

What to Expect
Here’s an example of a full day . This is a guide and will vary on your personal preferences, as well as the season.
Arrive & make yourself at home
Meet me at my home in Les Bossons, Chamonix and begin your day with a warming mug of chai or refreshing glass of mango lassi, depending on the time of the year.
I’ll introduce you to regional Indian cooking, the spices that you’ll be cooking with and their health benefits. You’ll get to toast and grind your own spice blends from scratch.
Session One – Chutney & Dip
You’ll begin the day by making a fresh chutney and dip using seasonal ingredients where possible. These will develop in flavour throughout the day as we crack on with the rest of the cooking.
Session Two – Making Dal
In this session you will explore pulses by learning to make a delicious Dal from scratch. An essential dish in the catalogue of Indian cooking, you’ll find out about the subtleties across different regions of India.
Lunch Break (Indian, of course)
You’ll sit down for a light and delicious Indian lunch, prepared by myself. A chance to ask questions and chat as we eat together.
Session Three – Main Dish
With your bellies full and conversation flowing, I’ll take you through a main dish from start to finish. You’ll make your dish such as a vegan Chana Masala, vegetarian Muttar Paneer or meat Xacutti. I’ll figure out the best dish to cook together in our initial chat together as you book.
Session Four – Chapattis
Grasp the basics of Indian unleavened bread as I show you how to make simple Chapatti or Roti from scratch. You will be provided with a specific Chapati rolling pin for the lesson.
Time to Eat!
Choose to either eat your feast together at the chef’s table with your group or take your creation home to share and enjoy with your loved ones or devour by yourself – you deserve it! Finish the day with another mug of homemade chai and a traditional Indian treat.
